Findings from 44 study are based on retrospective data, relies on the memory of the juveniles parents to recall periods of separation in childhood, could have lied to present selves in better light or forgotten it, reduces internal Val, weakness support the research provides for theory

she partially replicated the 44 thieves study on a larger scale, looking at 500 young people, in her sample a history of early prolonged separation from the mother did not predict criminality or difficulty forming close relationships, contradicts Bowlby’s theory
