horizontal - trans umbilical (between L3 &L4)
vertical plane - typhoid process through umbilical to pubic symphisis

Right upper quadrant

How is the nine quadrant system divided?
two vertical lines (midclavicular planes)
two horizontal lines (subcostal and inter tubercular plane)
What is the superior horizontal plane?
subcostal plane
inferior to costal margin - costal cartilage 10
posteriorly - L3
What is the inferior horizontal plane?
intertubercular plane
connects the turbucles of the iliac crest
passes through L5 vert
Where are the tubercles of the iliac crest palpable?
5cm posterior to the ASIS

mid clavicle to midway between ASIS and pubic symphysis
