Boston Tea Party December 16, 1773

- British east India Company 1773 not required to pay taxes
- Americans become enraged and refused to buy tea or unload the tea
- 1773 Sons of Liberty took the tea from the ship and dumped into the ocean
- Many Americans were angry at the Sons of Liberty and thought what they did was wrong
- King George III punished the American colonists. He closed Boston Harbor to all ships until the tea was paid for, prohibited the colonists from holding town meetings and required the colonist to house British soldiers for as long as England wanted them to and said that any British subject who committed a crime in America would be sent to England to be tried. These were called the Intolerable Acts.
