Q

Philosophy of order moulding

A
  • Oral environment surrounded by muscles which are active when we speak, chew, smile, swallow, or perform any of the numerous daily oral function. The muscle can have s destabilising effect on the denture. Border moulding shapes the impression borders and allows the muscles to function in harmony with the denture border.
  • the main philosophy behind the tedious border moulding is to confirm the form of the denture border to fit within the physiologiclimits of vestibules. This adequate fit of the denture border enhance the stability, provide retention and provide comfort.
  • In addition border moulding also improves the border seal of the denture. An intimate border contact does not allow the air and food particles between the intaglio surface of prosthesis and mucosa.
