Q

What is the coronary circuit?

A

Coronary circuit refers to your hearts arteries. this circuit provides the heart muscle with oxygenated blood. The coronary circuit the returns the oxygen-poor blood to the hearts right upper chamber(atrium) to send to the lungs for oxygen.

Q

What does the pulmonary circulation present?

A

between heart and lungs.

18
Q

What are blood vessels?

A

network of pathways through which the blood travels through the body.

19
Q

What are the main blood vessels around the heart?

A

The arteries transport blood away from the heart and the main veins.

20
Q

What are arteries?

A

blood vessels that transport oxygenated blood from the heart to various parts of the body .

21
Q

What type of blood does pulmonary arteries carry?

A

Deoxygenated blood.

22
Q

What do arteries look like?

A

They are thick and elastic and are divided into a small group of blood vessels called capillaries.

23
Q

What is blood?

A

blood is a fluid connective tissue that consists of plasma, blood cells and platelets.

24
Q

What are the types of blood cells?

A

Red blood cell and white blood cells.

25
Q

What are red blood cells?

A

the biconcave cells without nucleus in humans. contain iron-rich protein. main function is to transport oxygen from and to various tissues and organs.

26
Q

What are red blood cells made out of?

A

Bone marrow.

27
Q

What are white blood cell?

A

colourless and mainly contribute to immunity and defence mechanism. role in protecting body from diseases.

28
Q

What are platelets?

A

tiny disc shapes cells that help regulate blood flow when any part of the body is damaged.

29
Q

What is plasma?

A

The liquid state of blood can be contributed to plasma.

30
Q

What is cardiovascular disease?

A

a group of diseases affecting your heart and blood cells.

31
Q

What issues can cardiovascular disease have?

A

narrowing of the blood vessels in your heart.
heart and blood vessel problems since birth.
heart valves aren’t working right.
Irregular heart rhythm.

32
Q

What are some symptoms of heart issues?

A

chest pains.
shortness of breath.
dizzinesss and fainting.
fatigue or exhaustion.

33
Q

What are symptoms of blockage in blood vessels throughout your body?

A

Pain or cramps in your legs when you walk/swelling leg.
cool or red skin on your legs.
Numbness in your face or limbs.

34
Q

What coronary artery disease? (CAD)

A

most common heart problem. you may get blockage in your coronary arteries, the vessels that supply blood to your heart. Coronary heart disease can give you pain in your chest. This can lead to heart attacks.

35
Q

What is heart failure?

A

Your heart doesn’t pump blood as well as it should meet your body needs. It is usually caused by coronary artery disease but you can also because you have thyroid disease, high blood pressure.

36
Q

What is Heart valve disease?

A

An abnormality could make it hard for valve to open and close the right way. when this happens your blood flow could be blocked or blood can leak.

37
Q

What is Cardiomyopathy? (heart muscle disease)

A

It is a disease of your heart muscle, or myocardium. It gets stretched, thickened or stiff. Your heart may get to weak to pump well.

38
Q

What is Congenital Heart Disease?

A

happens when something goes wrong while the heart is forming in a baby that’s still in the womb.
