What is a place?
A small part of a geographical space we live in, whose identity is distinctive or special in some way.
Local and national connections of place:
- linked via transport
- Local/national government spending helps shape towns. (health, highstreets, education)

- Permanent migration
- Commuting
Flows of resources:
- Places might be reliant on others for raw materials. (japans food supply)
- Industry (cotton manchester)
Flow of business:
- Foreign direct investment (FDI) from a company elsewhere can influence character
- Ending investment (tata steel works)
- Investment in multi national companies (MNC’s) (e.g fast food chains) led to decrease in a places uniqueness. CLONE TOWNS.
Flow of ideas:
- Urban planners + developers can change how a place looks.
Define Globalisation
When developments such as TRADE, TRANSPORT and TECHNOLOGY has made the world a more interconnected place.
What changes can globalisation cause

- Political/Social changes
