endometrioma
ectopic endometrial tissue –> complex mass on ultrasound.
presentation: pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia
brenner tumor of the ovary
resembles bladder: pale yellow-tan, with capsule
on histology: “coffee-bean”
fibromas of the ovary:
bundles of spindle-shaped fibroblasts. creates pulling sensation in the groin.
Meigs sydrome
triad of ovarian fibroma, ascites, hydrothroax.
serous cystadenoma of the ovary
most common ovarian neoplasm.
frequently bilateral, lined with fallopian-like epithelium.
granulosa cell tumor
most common sex cord stromal tumor.
functional: estrogen / progesterone –> bleeding
CALL-EXNER bodies (resemble primordial follicles)
serous cystadenocarcinoma
most common ovarian neoplasm

PSAMMOMA Bodies
dysgerminoma
most common in adolescents.
uniform fried egg cells
hCG /LDH as tumor markers
choriocarcinoma
pregnancy related.
malignancy of trophoblastic tissue (no chorionic villi present)
abnormal bHCG + hemoptysis
yolk sac / endodermal sinus tumor
aggressive
most common tumor in male infants
yellow, friable hemorrhagic solid mass.
Schiller-Duval bodies that resemble glomeruli.
AFP as tumor marker.
krukenberg tumor
GI malignancy metastasizing to ovaries –> mucin-secreting signet cell adenocarcinoma.
intraductal papilloma of the breast (benign)
small tumor growing into lactiferous ducts.
serous / blood nipple discharge.
2x increased risk for carcinoma.
malignant breast tumors
1) post-menopausal
2) over expression of estrogen/progesterone receptors (HER2)
3) triple negative = more aggressive
4) axillary lymph node involvement = most important prognostic factor
