Bone ossification Flashcards

1
Q

How is long bone formed endochondral?

A

Cartilage precursor
1) Mesenchymal cells condense into cartilaginous collagen
2) Endochondral ossification
3) Blood supply- angiogenesis
4) Secondary ossification at ephysis
5) Formation growth plate
6) Growth plate turned bone- can’t grow

Q

Explain formation long bone?

A

1) Mesenchymal cells differentiate into chondroblasts
2) Chondrocytes deposit ECM and hyaline cartilage
2) Osteoblasts deposit bone, replace hyaline cartilage
3) Primary ossification centre
4) Bone replaces hyaline cartilage
5) Secondary ossification centre
6) Epiphyseal plate- hyaline cartilage between epiphysis and diaphysis

Q

Outline process of intramembranous ossification in flat bones?

A

1) Mesenchymal cells differentiate into osteoblasts
2) Osteoblasts deposit matrix which becomes mineralized
3) Osteoid formation
4) Immature woven trabeculae deposited
5) Replaced secondary then primary cortical bone
4) Mineralisation of osteocytes

Q

Function osteoblast and osteoclast in trauma?
