Greenstick
type: 1 broken and 1 bent surface
common in children as their bones have not fully matured
Pathologic
type: dt bone disorder (osteoporosis)
Comminuted
type: multiple breaks at one site
Oblique
pattern: break at 45 degree angle
Longitudinal
pattern: longitudinal break line
Burst
appearance: multiple breaks usually at the end of the bone
Chip
appearance: small fragment near the joint
Displaced
appearance: bone fracture separates away from bone
Manifestations
pain deformity loss of function hemorrhage soft tissue injury (muscle, tendons, ligaments, integument)
Treatment
reduction (realign bone)
immobilize
preserve and restore function *rehab
