Body Structures and Functions Flashcards

1
Q

Q

Problem Identification By Team

A

Establish baseline and functional/realistic goals
Education of family and patient
Take photos/video to provide family with examples of proper positioning, splinting procedures should be repeated every 4 mo for first 2 years
ROM, gross motor and functional skills in ADLs are assessed, current functional mobility
MMT- strength of extensors important to determine level of bracing, 3/5 hip extensors = brace above hip, 3/5 knee extensors = brace above knee
Consider powered mobility for children with significant ue involvements d/t decreased motor control and protective responses
Cognition: typically score average to above average
Incorporate family as part of team early on for best results
