Cells
lowest level of organisation basic building block of all living things specialised to carry out different functions (muscle cells, fat cells, bone cells, nerve cells)
Tissues
second level of structural organisation formed when cells with similar specialisations carry out a common function (muscle tissue, connective tissue, nervous tissue)
Organ
third level of structural organisation formed when two or more tissues work together (stomach, brain, liver, skin, kidney, heart)
System
fourth level of structural organisation made of a group of organs that work together for a common purpose (digestive, circulatory, immune, reproductive, endocrine)
