- repeated pattern of losing 5lbs & regaining 10lbs of body weight
- possible result of fad diets

- extreme, harmful eating behavior that can cause serious illness or even death

- depression=sign in all
- mental illness linked to depression, low self-esteem, troubled relationships, social/cultural forces, run in family, genetic factor ⇒ counseling, nutritional guidance, doctor’s care, (extreme) hospital

A
includes ppl who have CZs of 1+ eating disorder but don’t fit the diagnostic criteria for any 1 disorder

- AN: fear of gaining weight, restriction of calories, avoids social eating, unusual habits/rituals, hyperactivity or fatigue, obsessive exercise, isolation
- BN: fear of being fat, eats in secret, bathroom often, hoards food, mood swings, abuse alcohol/+, over-exercising, isolation
- BE: eats in secrete/alone, feels guilt, shame, disgust about overeating, eats a lot when not hungry, abuse of alcohol+

- AN: brittle bones, reduction in organ size, ♥probs, sudden cardiac death
- BN: dehydration, sore & inflamed throat, swollen glands, damaged teeth, stomach, intestines, kidneys, (b/c purging) irregular ♥rhythms, ♥failure, death
- BE: overweight/obese, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease
