Body Functions- Neuro musculoskeletal and movement related functions Flashcards
Joint Mobility
Range/ease of motion.
Joint Stability
Structural integrity of joints.
Muscle Functions- Muscle Power
Strength. Force that body part must have to move/hold an object.
Muscle Functions- Muscle Tone
Degree of muscle tension. Present in muscles when at rest.
Muscle Functions- Muscle Endurance
Sustaining muscle contraction when doing things repetitively.
Movement Functions- Motor Reflexes
Involuntary contractions induced by stretching. Protective response of muscle to prevent over stretching.
Movement Functions- Involuntary movement reactions
Postural, body adjustments and supporting reactions to maintain balance.
Control of Voluntary Movement- Eye/Hand
Coordinating what is visually seen with what hands are doing.
Control of Voluntary Movement- Eye/Foot
Coordinating what is visually seen with what the lower parts of body are doing.
Control of Voluntary Movement- Bilateral Integration
Both sides of the body/arms/legs used collaboratively to complete a task.
Control of Voluntary Movement- Crossing Midline
Right side of body crosses over to left side.
Control of Voluntary Movement- Fine Motor
Ultilising smaller muscle of hands/fingers/thumbs.
Control of Voluntary Movement- Gross Motor
Larger muscles of body are used to coordinate movements.
Control of Voluntary Movement- Oculomotor
Motor control eye muscles that allow for detection of visual information. (Eye movements)
