1,2,5ml syringe
Sterile EDTA tubes - PLAIN tubes
Gloves
Drape
Clippers
Skin prep
Clean slides
Local anaesthetic at sample site

synovial fluid sampling technique

A

Joint must be flexed

for internal cytology - Smear onto slide - stain with Leishman’s stain

for external lab - centrifuge, pipette off supernatent, transfer deposit into plain & EDTA tubes
