Lbs to Kg
Lbs/2 = minus 10% (10% = first number after you divide)
120lbs = Kg?
120lbs/2 = 60 (minus 10% or 6) = 54kg
200lbs = Kg?
200lbs/2 = 100 (minus 10 ) = 90kg
80lbs= kg
80lbs/2 = 40 (minus 4 ) = 36kg
How to mix Neo & Ephedrine
2 ways:
- Concentration of Drug/Size of syringe (mls)
OR - Concentration of Drug/ Size of Bag (mls)
Phenylephrine vial concentration
10mg/mL
Phenylephrine
- Classification, MOA, effect, dose
Alpha-1 Agonist.
Increases BP while causing relex bradycardia.
Dose: 50-200mcg
Phenylephrine: Reconstitution into NS bag
TWO METHODS:
A. Mix in a Bag of Normal Saline
10mg Neo in 100mLs NS Bag = 10mg/100mLs = 0.1mg = 100mcg/mL of Neo
OR
10mg Neo in 250mL NS Bag = 10mg/250mLs = 0.04mg = 40mcg/mL

B. Double Dilution Method
Step 1 Draw up 9mLs saline in 10mL syringe & add 10mg Neo = 10mg Ne0/10mLs Saline = 1mg/mL 0r 1000mcg/mL Neo *TOO MUCH!
Step 2 Draw up ANOTHER 9mLs Saline in 10mL syringe & add 1mL of solution from step 1 = 1mgNeo/10mLs Saline = 0.1mg or 100mcg/mL or Neo This you can give!
Ephedrine
- Classification, MOA, effect, dose, vial concentration
Indirect Acting Alpha & Beta Agonist.
Increases BP & HR.
Dose: 5-10mg
Vial concentration: 25mg or 50mg vial
Ephedrine
Vial Concentration: 25mg
- Draw up 9mLs saline in 10mL syringe or draw up 4mLs saline in 5mL syringe
- Add 1mL of either 25mg Ephedrine to either 10mL or 5mL syringe w/ saline
10 mLs Saline Syringe =
-25mg Ephedrine/10mLs Saline = 2.5mg/mL
5mL Saline Syringe =
-25mg Ephedrine/5mL Saline = 5mg/mL
Ephedrine
Vial Concentration: 50mg
- Draw up 9mLs saline in 10mL syringe or draw up 4mLs saline in 5mL syringe
- Add 1mL of 50mg Ephedrine to 10mL or 5mL syringe with saline
10 mLs Saline Syringe =
-50mg Ephedrine/10mLs Saline = 5mg/mL
5mL Saline Syringe =
-50mg Ephedrine/5mL Saline = 10mg/mL
Mixing Dilaudid (2mg, 1mg)
2mg Vial of Dilaudid
2mg Dilaudid/10mLs Saline = 0.2mg/mL
1mg Vial of Dilaudid
1mg Dilaudid/10mLs Saline = 0.1mg/mL
DRUG DRAWER MEMORIZATION
By Dose: FROM LOWEST TO HIGHEST
Neostigmine: 0.05mg/kg (Reversal agent/Anti-cholinesterase)
Glycopyrolate/Robinul 0.05-0.1mg/kg (Anti-cholinergic)
Succ: 0.5-1.5mg/kg (Paralytic)
Roc: 0.6-1.2mg/kg (Paralytic)
Propofol: 1.5-2.5mg/kg (Hynotiq)
Suggamadex: 2mg/kg (2 twitches), 4mg kg (0 Twitches)
DRUG DRAWER MEMORIZATION
By Time
Onset 30 secs- 1min: Propofol, Succ, Roc, Glyco Peaks 1 min: Propofol & Succ Peaks 3 mins: Roc, Glyco Duration 5-10 mins: Propofol & Succ Duration 30-60 mins: Roc Duration 2-4 hours: Glyco
