A

cognitive behavioral therapy aims to improve sleep habits and behaviors that are affecting the ability to allow a person to sleep, or sleep well.

CBT can aim to create a scheduled routine, to break associations between the sleep environment and wakefulness. It relies on the principals of classical conditioning, to tie the bedroom with feelings of tiredness. It can involve relaxation training to promote feelings of relaxation in the bedroom such as reading a book, as well as improving sleep hygiene such as avoiding alcohol.

A

Bright Light is important for synchroinsng the human sleep wake cycle with an external rhythm.
Bright light is able to suppress melatonin secretion, by exposing the eyes to bright, but safe amounts of light, which restricts the SCN-pineal gland from releasing melatonin, and preventing feelings of tiredness
The aim is to shift an individuals sleep wake cycle to a desired schedule.
