In 1553 at 37 years old.
Why were people happy that Mary was becoming the new queen?
Because she was a devout catholic and people were happy they were catholic again.
What were some of the major changes Mary made?
England was Catholic again.
Pope was head of English and Welsh Churches again.
Married priest were made to leave their wives.
Chruch services and prayer books were in Latin again.
What did Mary do to people who didn’t like the catholic rules?
She would burn them
Why was Mary known as ‘bloody mary’?
If someone did not follow her rules she would punish them in the harshest possible way. Some do think it was harsh to call her Bloody Mary though because if she deserves that title why does nobody else get it.
What type of the people did Mary burn?
She would burn anyone no matter what wealth they had or age they were.
