What are the names of the three blood vessels
Artery
Vein
Capillary
What are arteries and what do they do
They carry blood away from their heart.
The arteries have strong muscular walls to withstand the high blood pressure.
What are veins and what do they do
Veins carry blood back to the heart.
Veins do not have as thick walls because the blood pressure is lower inside them.
Veins have valves so they can keep the blood flowing in one direction back to the heart.
What are capillaries and what do they do
These allows substances to exchange at body cells, like food or oxygen.
Capillaries have thinner cells to allow substances to leak through.
What is blood pressure
Force of blood on the arteries
Where can you take your pulse
Neck and wrist
What is the normal ranges of blood pressure
Systolic - 100-139
Diastolic - 80-89
When is your blood pressure lowest
When you are resting
