Blood Vessels Flashcards
What does the internal jugular vein do
Drain blood from the brain
What does the external jugular vein do
Drains blood from superficial regions of the head and neck
What does the brachiocephalic veins do
Receive blood from the jugular and simply being beans and deliver it to the superior vena cava
What do the common carotid arteries do
Carry blood towards the head
What does the right/left subclavian artery do
Carries blood to the foreleg
What does the aorta do
Carries blood under high pressure from the left ventricle to all arteries except pulmonary arteries
What does the pulmonary trunk do
Carries blood from the right ventricle to 3 Vessels, the right and left pulmonary arteries the ductus arteriosus
What is the ductus arteriosus
A wide sure the artery that closes at birth it allows the output from the right ventricle to bypass the lungs and the left side of the heart and go right to the aorta
What does the inferior vena cava do
Why been carrying blood from the hind legs and the abdomen to the right atrium
What do the pulmonary veins do
Carry blood from the lungs to the left atrium (oxygenated)
What does the hepatic portal vein do
Take blood from the pancreas stomach spleen and intestines to the liver
What do the renal veins do
Drain blood from the kidneys into the inferior vena cava
What does the common iliac vein do
Drain blood from behind the legs into the inferior vena cava
What does the umbilical vein do
Carries blood from the placenta through the umbilical cord to the liver
What do hepatic veins do
Carry blood from the liver into the superior vena cava
What does the superior mesenteric artery do
Supplies blood to the small intestine nine
What is the renal artery do
Supplies blood to the kidneys
What does the testicular or ovarian artery do
Carries blood to the gonads
What does the umbilical artery do
Carries blood through the umbilical cord to the placenta
What does the common iliac artery do
Supply blood to the pelvic region and hind limbs
Raise the path of blood flow through the heart
Pulmonary could pillories to pulmonary vein to left atrium to the bicuspid valve to the left ventricle to the aortic semilunar valve to the aorta to the systemic arteries to the systemic capillaries to the systemic veins to the right atrium to the tricuspid valve to the right ventricle to the pulmonary semilunar valve to the pulmonary trunk to the pulmonary arteries to the pulmonary capillaries
Where does oxygenated blood to go into the heart
The left side of the heart through the pulmonary veins
What do arteries do
Carry oxygenated blood away from the heart through the body
What do veins do
Carry deoxygenated blood towards the heart
What do pulmonary veins do
Carry oxygenated blood to the heart
What do pulmonary arteries do
Carry deoxygenated blood away from the heart
