What are the 4 main blood types?
A, B, AB and O
If Anti- A serum was added to a blood sample and it formed a precipitate (a solid) which possible blood type(s) could it be and why?
It could be type A blood as it would not react to the cells considered ‘self’.
What is Agglutination?
The clumping of particles.
Which is the most common blood type? Which is the rarest?
O+ is the most common blood type and AB- is the rarest
What is Blood Type A?
Has antigen A on their cells
Has Anti-B antibody
Can have A or O blood
What is Blood Type B?
Has antigen B on their cells
Has Anti-A antibody
Can have B or O blood
What is Blood Type AB?
Has antigens A and B on their cells
Has neither antibody
Can have any type of blood
What is Blood Type O?
Has neither A nor B on their cells
Has both antibodies
Can only have O blood
