Blood Supply To Brain Part 1 Flashcards
How much cardiac out goes to CNS?
15% cardiac output goes to the CNS
Blood goes to the CNS through how many systems?
Blood goes to the CNS through 2 systems i.e carotid system & vertebro basillary system
What is vertebro basiilary system
Vertebral arteries moves upward and pass through lamina of the transverse process of cervical vertebra.
Then move medially till ponta medullary junction and become one huge trunk called basillary artery which then moves till mid brain and divides into two branches which goes posteriorly and are called posterior cerebral artery.
What is anterior spinal artery?
From the medial of vertebral arteries at the location of foramen magnum two branches comes out from left and right vertebral arteries and desend down and foam one single artery called anterior spinal artery. 2/3 of anterior spinal artery is supplied by anterior spinal artery
