What is critical bleeding?
A major haemorrhage that has the potential to threaten life and may need massive transfusion
What does MTP stand for?
Massive Transfusion Protocol
Nursing interventions for MBP
Optimise O2, CO perfusion and metabolic state.
Monitor every 30 - 60 mins
FBC - coagulation screen, ionised Calcium, arterial blood gas.
Aim for temperature of ^35. pH 7.2 base excess <-6. Lactate <4. Ca2+: >1.1. Platelets of 50x10/L. PT/APTT <1.5 x normal. INR 1.5. Fibrinogen >1
