Blood Pressure and Pulse (lesson 4) Flashcards
Define blood pressure
Blood being forced to make/put on blood vessels
What is the fraction of a typical value of blood pressure, and what does both of those numbers mean?
120/80
Top number: Systolic pressure
Bottom number: Diastolic pressure
What happens to the muscles in the wall of arteries? aka (dilate or constrict)
Blood vessels changes by diameter and pressure
What does skeletal muscles connection to veins?
In the veins, doesn’t cause back flow of blood and contraction from skeletal muscles make blood go back to heart
What is a stroke volume?
Volume of blood pumped within each heart beat
Where are BP receptors found in walls?
Aorta and carotid arteries, sensitive to high BP
