Explain the mechanism of action of angiotensin converting enzyme ( ace ) inhibitors
Antagonising angiotensin converting enzyme.
Prevents conversion of angiotensin 1 to angiotensin 2 which is a vasoconstrictor. Blocking this causes results in vasodilation.
Explain the term Beta blocker.
A beta-blocker is a type of medication that blocks beta-adrenergic receptors. B1 receptors are blocked in heart disease.
Outline how beta blocker can improve care of patient.
Improved symptoms foams prognosis in hypertension / angina.
Lower BP
Reduce ventricular rate in people AF Or anxiety. Prolonging AV node
