What is blood pressure?
When your heart beats, it pumps blood round your body to give it the energy and oxygen it needs. As the blood moves, it pushes against the slides of the blood vessels. The strength of this pushing is your blood pressure.
What is Systolic blood pressure?
The pressure inside your arteries when your heart is pumping
What is Diastolic pressure?
It’s the pressure inside your arteries when your heart is resting between sets
Explain Hypertension
When your artistries ate healthy and dilated, blood flows easily and your heart doesn’t have to work too hard but when your artistes are too narrow or stiff, blood pressure rises, the heart gets overworked, and arteries can become damaged.
Explain the effects of age with high blood pressure
The older we get = less elastic our arteries have which leads to higher blood pressure
Poor lifestyle factors can have a negative impact on problems with the cardiovascular system and to a lesser effect gene
