Blood pressure Flashcards
What should MAP be (minimum)?
> 65-70
How do alpha-2 agonists affect blood pressure?
Vasoconstriction -> increased resistance –> higher BP
Good if concerned about hypotension
How does ACP affect blood pressure?
Vasodilation –> less resistance –> lower BP
What should you do if blood pressure drops intraoperatively due to the animal being too deep?
Decrease isoflurane
What should you do if blood pressure drops intraoperatively due to the animal being hypovolaemic?
Give fluids (colloid and crystalloid)
What should you do if blood pressure drops intraoperatively, but the animal is not too deep and you suspect the animal is normovolaemic?
Give dobutamine (Positive inotrope - increased contractility)
In a worst case scenario and blood pressure drops very low, what emergency drug can you give?
Adrenaline
Causes major vasoconstriction - rapid rise in HR and BP
