What are Leukocytes?
White blood cells
E.g. neutrophils lymphocytes
What is the name for red blood cells?
Erythrocytes

What is the structure of an erythrocyte?
Contains haemoglobin
Flexible
Bi-concave shape
No nucleus
Why do erythrocyte have no nucleus?
To allow for more haemoglobin- absorb more oxygen

Pale yellow

How is blood plasma prepared?
- Blood spun in centrifuge with anticoagulant
- Blood cells fall to bottom
- Plamsa on top drawn off
What is the role of leukocytes?
Immune system

Bone marrow

Indicated disease/illness

Platelets
