Which component of blood makes it watery so that it can flow?
The plasma, a yellow liquid.
How are white blood cells important to our immune system?
The phagocyte, a type of w.b.c, produce phagocytosis which engulfs the pathogen completely. The lymphocytes produce antibodies, which neutralize the pathogen and antitoxins, which destroy the toxins made by foreign substances.
What things does the plasma carry?
They carry nutrients like amino acids, glucose, hormones to the parts of body that need it. They also carry waste products such as CO2, urea and helps remove the waste from the body.
What is haemoglobin and why is it important?
The red pigment of blood which binds with oxygen to become oxyhaemoglobin, so that it can be passed to the rest of the body.
State the function of red blood cells.
The R.B.C carry oxygen from the lungs to body’s organs.
Explain how the platelets form clots to prevent bleeding.
Once we get a cut and our blood vessel is damaged, collagen is exposed, attracting the platelet. Then, they create a barrier. The soluble fibrinogen is converted into fibrin fibres, stabilizing blood clots and making them stronger.
How is fibrinogen converted into fibrin?
After the exposure to the outside chemicals and environment, it causes the fibrinogen to convert into sticky fibrin.
What is respiration?
The process by which living beings obtain energy from glucose and oxygen, releasing and removing waste products such as CO2, Urea.
