Blood Brothers - Narrator and the Policeman Flashcards
Introduction - Policeman
In Blood Brothers, Willey Russell uses the policeman as a tool in order to show the great inequality present between the separate classes in Thatcherite Britain. The Winter of Discontent took place between 1978 and 1979 which caused widespread strikes and unemployment particularly for the working class. Russell contrasts the Policeman’s actions towards the working class citizens who suffered from the widespread strikers and the upper-class citizen who thrived during the strikes. Russell perhaps wrote Blood Brothers as a critique of social injustice in 1980s Britain.
