In Blood Brothers, Willey Russell portrays the character of Edward Lyons as sheltered upper-class citizen in Thatcherite Britain .Perhaps, Russell uses the anthesis between Edward and Mickey to comment on social injustice in 1980’s Britain. Despite being genetically identical to one another their upbringing is significantly different. Russell comments on how it is not hard work that makes Mickey and Edward’s lives so different; it is the opportunities that their backgrounds provide for them.
