What is blood?
Transports nutrients, waste and is made of solid cells (suspended in liquids)
Where does blood enter the heart through?
vena cava
Where does the blood go after entering the heart?
Goes into the right or the left atrium
Where does blood flow through after the atriums?
Ventricles
How are ventricles and atriums separated?
Separated because of valves
How do valves make sure that blood does not flow backwards?
It closes as the ventricle contracts
Where does blood go to after arteries?
pumps to body
Why is plasma so important to blood?
Without it, there would be no fluids to keep blood cells flowing through
What are the 3 types of main blood groups
Red blood cells, White blood cells and platelets
What is the function of red blood cells?
Carry oxygen to supply the cells around body
Do Red blood cells have a nucleus?
no
What is the function of white blood cells?
fighting infections and are part of the immune system
Do white blood cells have a nucleus?
Yes a large nucleus
What is the function of platelets?
TO work with the plasma proteins to prevent blood loss after an injury.
What is the smallest blood cell?
Platelets
