What are platelets responsible for and what don’t they have?
A
Triggering blood clotting at the site of wounds.
They don’t have a nucleus.

What is the function of red blood cells?
A
To carry oxygen from the lungs to all body cells.

How are red blood cells adapted for their function?
A
- They have a bioconcave shape which gives them a large surface area for absorbing oxygen.
- They don’t have a nucleus so they can carry more oxygen.
- Have lots of haemoglobin.

What is the function of white blood cells and what do they have?
A
To defend against infection. They have a nucleus.
