Block 7 Retake Flashcards

If you have an alternate filed! (Regardless of weather)
What part of an Area Forecast would you disregard when trying to determine if you need to file an alternate?
The outlook!
Where can you find the Threshold Crossing Height on an approach chart?
The bottom right corner of the profile view (given in AGL)
If you are shooting an approach that requires ADF or DME, what OTHER equipment could you have that would allow you to deviate from that requirement?
Having a WAAS GPS
If the IAP lighting is out of service, how does that effect the required flight visibility? (Where do you go)
Go to the front of chart “Inop Components or Visual Aids Table” (pg 2/19 in DTPS)
When does the GPS switch into Approach mode?
When you’re 2NM from the FAF!
Why wouldn’t there be published straight-in landing minimums?
- If there is a 400ft/NM+ descent gradient
- If FAC is 30+ degrees off centerline
If you want to file an airport as an alternate, what do you need to make sure of other than the forecasted weather?
Look for an A indicating either non-standard alternate minimums, or an A (NA) meaning the airport is unavailable to file as an alternate
