Block 4 Pneumatic System Flashcards
What does the pneumatic system supply?
Hot, high pressure air to the systems on the airplane that use air.
Describe Engine 1 and 2 bleed air systems.
There are 2 systems with 1 per engine.
At low engine speeds, bleed air comes from the 9th stage of the HPC.
At high engine speeds, bleed air comes from the 5th stage.
What is the purpose of the APU bleed air system?
Supplies bleed air on the ground and in the air.
What is the purpose of the Pneumatic Ground Air Connection?
Gives a connection for a ground Pneumatic Cart which can supply bleed air for engine start and ground use of the air conditioning system.
What is the purpose of the Pneumatic Manifold System?
Sends compressed air from the pneumatic sources to the user systems,
Supplies a valve to isolate the manifold into two separate systems
Supplies a connection for a ground source of pneumatic power.
What is the purpose of the Air conditioning system?
It controls the interior environment of flight, cabin, and equipment compartments.
What is the purpose of the Distribution system?
Divides conditioned air to the three airplane zones.
Reduces engine bleed requirements.
Removes offensive air from the lavatory.
Supplies cooling air to electronic equipment.
What is the purpose of Pressurization?
Keeps the airplane cabin interior at a safe altitude below 8,000 feet which protects the crew from the effects of hypoxia(oxygen starvation).
What is the purpose of the Cabin Pressure Control System?
It controls the rate that the air flows out of the Cabin.
What is the purpose of the Cabin Pressure Relief System?
It’s a failsafe system that protects the airplane structure from overpressure and negative pressure if the pressurization control system fails.
What does the Cabin Pressure Indication and Warning System give you?
Data about the pressurization system status.
What does the Equipment cooling system do?
Removes heat from electronic components using cabin air.
What is the purpose of heating?
Supplies warm air to areas to prevent freezing or to increase temperature for comfort.
What is the purpose of cooling?
Controls quantity of air from the pneumatic system to the pack and removes heat from air.
What is the purpose of flight control?
Controls the air temperature in Flight compartment, Forward cabin compartment, and Aft Cabin compartment.
