In bullous pemphigoid - interruption of what?
Results in?

Sub epidermal blisters
typical age of patient in bullous pemhigoid?
elderly
what can present about 1 year prior to blisters in pemphigoid?
well demarcated erythematous plaques

no mucosal involvement
Blisters in bullous pemphigoid (large and tense and itchy) typically found where on body?
trunk and proximal limbs
Bullous pemphigoid - nikolsky sign negative or positive ?
negative (blisters dont rupture on rubbing skin)
Dx of bullous pemphigoid ?

On biopsy - sub epidermal blisters + inflammatory infiltrates within blister - Dx ?
Bullous pemphigoid
Findings on immunofluorescence in bullous pemphigoid?
Linear IgG + complement deposition along the basement membrane
Management of bullous pemphigoid:
a) local disease ?

1) sedating and anti pruritic
2) steroid sparing agents
No response to steroids ABs etc in bullous pemphigoid next line treatment is ?
Immunosupression

Pemphigus vulgaris
Intra epidermal blisters which are weak and easily burst (nikolsky sign positive) Dx?
