Properties of Sulphur Mustard (HD)
Viscous liquid at room temp
Poses a contact and vapour hazard
Fairly low freezing point -
Becomes a solid below 15c
Sulphur Mustard (HD) is persistent how long can it remain so?
1 to 2 days or about 2 weeks in cold weather
Sulphur Mustard (HD) looks and smells like?
Pure forms - clear to pale yellow
Impure - dark brown / black

Medical effects of Sulphur Mustard (HD)
Mild- inflammation of the skin, irritation of the mucus membrane coughing,sneezing and hoarseness
Severe- loss of sight, nausea, severe respiratory difficulties, vomiting,blistering of the skin and diarrhoea
Properties of lewisite (L)
Pure- oily colourless liquid Impure- amber to dark brown Smells like Geraniums More pronounced blistering High concentration- Death in 10mins
lewisite (L) causes more internal issues
Low blood pressure
Lung swelling
Bowel troubles
Properties of Nitrogen Mustard (HN1,2,3)
All dark in colour and oily
Symptoms are the same as Sulphur Mustard (HD) but much more dangerous
Phosgene Oxime (CX)
Solid - colourless
Liquid - yellow/brown
Strong irritating odour
