Wounds is defined as -

How to identify Arterial(aar-teeu-ree-uhl) bleeding:
Venous bleeding:
- It is pulsating
- it is bright red
- It flows steadily
- It is dark red
Methods to reduce bleeding of a wound(4):
- Direct pressure
- Indirect pressure(blocking or pressing an artery)
- Elevation. Lift the affected area above the level of the heart
- Tourniquet(last resort)
Amputations:
Must be placed in a -
The marking must contain -
Damp, sterile container and clearly marked.
The patients name
Time and date of amputation
Which limb or body part
Blocking blood flow with an amputation:
Important relevant to tourniquet:
Immediately apply indirect pressure
Bandage the wound
Elevate the limb
Only use tourniquet if absolutely necessary
Internal bleeding actions:
Take to hospital immediately
In instances where the casualty has been, or will be trapped for longer than 30 mins, you must first contact paramedics. For casualties trapped longer than 20 minutes you -
must not try to free the limb or body part since toxics could enter the bloodstream.
