Bleeding and Shock Flashcards
What are the types of shock?
- Hypovolemic
- Cardiogenic
- Spetic
- Anaphylactic
- Neurogenic
How is hypovolemic shock caused?
Caused by too little volume in body, eg. blood, vomit
How is cardiogenic shock caused?
Caused by heart problems (pump problems)
How is septic shock caused?
Due to infections that cant be cleared by immune system, resulting in vasodilation and hypotension.
How is anaphylactic shock caused?
Caused by severe allergic reaction, leading to release of histamine that causes widespread vasodilation and hypotension.
How is neurogenic shock caused?
Due to damage to central nervous system, impairing cardiac function.
What is the normal blood pressure range?
between 90/60mmHg and 120/80mmHg
What is the normal pulse rate?
60-100bpm
What is a high blood pressure?
140/90mmHg or higher
What is a low pressure?
90/60mmHg or lower
