BJT Flashcards
1
Q
Why is BJT called bipolar?
A
Because both electrons and holes (both polarities) contribute to the current in a bipolar process
2
Q
Which is most important BJT mode
A
Forward active (or just active) mode
3
Q
Where does forward active current gain come from?
A
electrons from emitter to base is more than holes from base to emitter, accomplished by heavily doped emitter and lightly doped base
4
Q
what are the minority carriers in the base
A
electrons are minority carriers in the p-type base. because base is lightly doped most will not be lost to recombination and most will diffuse to the collector.
