Outline structure of the brain:

A
  • split into two hemispheres
  • outer layer = cerebral cortex 3mm thick
  • Each hemisphere split into 4:
    1. Frontal lobe
    2. Parietal lobe
    3. Temporal lobe
    4. Occipital lobe
    There are four areas we must be familiar with:
    1. motor
    2. somatosensory
    3. visual
    4. auditory

A

responsible for speech production
damage to this area leads to Broca’s aphasia
slow and lack of fluency in speech
