Type of forest found in areas with high regular rainfall
Tropical rainforest
woodland of a usual mild climatic area within a temperate zone
Temperate Rainforest
Forests that is dominated by trees that loose their leaves each year
Temperate Deciduous Forest
Sometimes Swampy coniferous forest. between tundra and steppes of siberia and north american
Taiga
a grassy plain in tropical and subtropical regions. Few trees.
Savanna
division of a larger biome. Includes tropical savannas.
Temperate Grasslands
Tangled Shrubs and Thorny Bushes
Chaparral
Dry, sandy land. Waterless and little to no vegetation.
Desert
Flat, treeless, Arctic region in Europe, Asia, and North america. Subsoil = Permanently frozen
Tundra
water that is deep enough that light does not hit the botten, photosynthesis is limited to top layer. Water Shallow enough to support rooted plants
Lakes and Ponds
Plants that make up an area covered in water., mostly trees. No woody trees
Swamp and Marsh
Large Natural stream of water flowing to a location
Rivers
Where tide meets a river or stream
Estuaries
a ridge of rock under the ocean that has coral growths on it
Coral Reefs
Otherwise known as the pelagic zone. Contrasted with water that is near the coast by the continental shelf
Open Ocean
Zone near the shore where sunlight hits all the way to the sand and allows plants to grow
Littoral Zone
Lowest level of a body of water.
Benthic Zone
A species that is non-native to the ecosystem
Invasive Species
A species of animal that is at risk of extinction
Endangered Species
Sudden global decrease of a life form
Mass Extinction
