Biology Test4 Flashcards
What are the stages of the cell cycle in order?
Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, Cytokinesis.
What is the relationship between chromatin and a chromosome?
A chromosme is a more wound up type of chrromatin.
Label the cells with the correct stage of the cell cycle.
Inter, pro, meta, anna and telophase.
What advantage does a small cell have over a big cell?
Small cells have an easier time getting stuff in and out of themselves.
What is special about an “N” set of chromosomes?
It is a complete set of chromosomes needed to build the organism.
What is a zygote?
The first 2N cell, me, or a fertilized egg.
What heppens in the G1, S, and G2 stages of interphase?
G1: Growth
S: DNA replication
G2: Preparation for division
What four stages make up mitosis?
Pro, meta, ana, and telophase.
Later on in development, the cells will become specialized through what process?
Differentiation
What is a cell plate?
New cell wall.
In what and when does a cell plate develop?
Develops between daughter cells in plants.
What are homologues chromosomes called when they are paired?
Centromere position
What is the function of the centriole in mitosis?
Fibers that help organize cell division.
