Q

neurone-

A

specially adapted cell which carries electrical impulse

17
Q

nerve-

A

collection of neurones

18
Q

Reflex action:

A

an automatic response that occurs without thought

19
Q

heart, lungs and brain produce ….

A

most heat

20
Q

Shivering:

A

shaking uncontrollably as a result of being cold

21
Q

Blood sugar too high:

A

Hormone insulin released, no glucagon released

glucose stored as glycogen. The liver processes the blood back to normal.

22
Q

Blood sugar too low:

A

Pancreas releases hormone glucagon, no insulin is released, glycogen changes to glucose

23
Q

GLUCAGON

A

Hormone

24
Q

GLYCOGEN

A

Storage of glucose

25
Q

sweat=

A

H2O and salt

26
Q

Type 1

A

Insulin Dependent
Symptoms: lots of urine, thirsty, shaky, tired, sugar in urine
Cause: Genetic link and trigger (virus)
Problem: Produces less or no insulin
Treatment: Inject insulin, measure blood sugar levels 4-6 times a day

27
Q

Type 2

A

Non-insulin Dependent
Symptoms: lots of urine, thirsty, shaky, tired, sugar in urine
Cause:Genetic factors, diet, obesity
Problem: producing insulin but cells are not responsive to the insulin
Treatment: diet, increase exercise, drugs to increase responsiveness

28
Q

How does sweating help the body?

A

It decreases the body temperature as more of the heat energy is used to evaporate the sweat from the body.
