What is a habitat?
An area where a plant or animal lives.
What is an ecosystem?
It consists of all the plants and animals in an area reacting with each other and their physical environment.
What are producers?
Producers are plants that make their own food.
What are consumers?
Animals they get their food from other plants or animals.
What is a herbivore?
An animal that only eats plants.
What is a carnivore?
An animal that only eats other animals.
What is an omnivore?
An animal that eats both plants and other animals.
What are decomposers?
Organisms that feed on dead plants or animals.
What is a food chain?
A list of organisms in which each organism is eaten by the next one in the chain.
What is an adaptation?
A structure that helps an organism survive in its habitat.
What is a competition?
Where two or more organisms need something in short supply.
What is a food web?
Two or more connected food chains.
What is a quadrat?
A square used to estimate the number of plants in an area.
What is a line transecting?
A rope marked at regular intervals and laid across a habitat to estimate the number of plants.
What is ecology?
The study of relationships between plants, animals and their environment.
