21
Q

How do vaccines work?

A

The body makes antibodies against them but you are not affected by the disease. If you become infected by the real microbe which causes the disease your body rids it from your system become you feel the effects and become ill.

22
Q

What organ is beneath the mouth?

A

Salivary glands

23
Q

What organ is beneath the stomach?

24
Q

What organ is above the anus?

25
What is the function of the anus
Faces are eliminated through this structure
26
What organ is below the liver directly?
Gall-bladder
27
What is the function of the rectum
faces are stored here before elimination
28
What are the top two chambers of the heart called?
Atrium+Atrium
29
What are the bottom two chambers of the heart called?
Ventricle +Ventricle
30
What is the purpose of the heart?
To pump blood around the body
31
What makes up the Circulatory system
Heart and blood vessels
32
What is the function of the large intestine?
Water is absorbed and what is left forms faces
33
What is the function of the small intestine?
Nutrients are absorbed from the food
34
What is the function of the oesophagus?
Food is passed from the mouth to the stomach
35
What are the organs of the female reproductive system? (4)
Oviducts, Uterus, Ovaries, vagina
36
What are the organs of the male reproductive system? (3)
Penis, Sperm tube, testes
37
What is the function and structure of veins
Carry blood back to the heart. Thinner and wider central passage then arteries. They also have values to prevent back flow of blood
38
What is the structure and function of Arteries?
Carry blood away from the heart. Thick muscular walls and a narrow central channel. You can feel the pulse of arteries
39
What is the function of the vagina
receives the sperm
40
What is the function of the ovaries?
make egg cells
41
What does the term immunization mean?
What you are made immune to a disease by either being effected by the disease or artificially using a vaccine
42
What is the male sex cell?
Sperm
43
What is the female sex cell?
Egg
44
What is the proper name for the sex cells?
gamete
45
What is the function of the Placenta?
Provide nutrients and oxygen to the fetus and removes waste
46
What is the function of the umbilical cord?
carries blood to from the placenta to the fetus and from the fetus to the placenta
47
What is the definition of fertilization?
When the sperm cell fuses with the egg
48
Where does fertilization take place?
Oviducts
49
What is the function of the pancreas
Make digestive enzymes which are transported to the small intestines that help break down food
50
What is the function of the mouth and salivary glands
Food enters here, enzymes in saliva begin the process of digestion.
51
What are anti-bodies and there function?
The antibodies are are specific white blood cells and act as markers. They find there matching antigen on the harmful microbes and lock onto them marking them for destruction.
52
What is the function of the liver?
Make a substance called bile
