19
Q

Where does respiration take place?

A

A cell

20
Q

What is respiration?

A

The process of cells used to release energy from food. All living organisms carry out respiration.

21
Q

What is anaerobic respiration?

A

Anaerobic respiration happens in muscles during hard exercise. Lactic acid builds up and causes painful cramps. The extra oxygen you inhale breaks down lactic acid. The oxygen needed for this process is called the oxygen debt.

22
Q

What is the gas needed for aerobic respiration?

A

Oxygen

23
Q

What organ is used to get gas into the body?

A

Lungs

24
Q

What are some other substances needed for aerobic respiration?

A

Sugar and glucose

25
Q

What is Fermentation?

A

It is when anaerobic respiration in plants and microorganisms produces ethanol and carbon dioxide instead of lactic acid.

26
Q

What is biotechnology?

A

It’s the use of biological processes of organisms to create useful products.
