Control group
A set up group that you use as a reference sample
Growth and development
All things get larger and more complex throughout the organisms life
Reproduction
Can occur sexually (egg and sperm produce non identical offspring) or asexually (offspring identical to parent)
cells
All organisms are made up of cells. most basic unit of life- 2 types Eukaryotic (plants / animal) and Prokaryotic (bacteria)
Homeostasias
Ability to maintain a relatively stable internal environment despite external environment changing. (Neg feedback loop) most common
Energy
ATP- adenosine try phosphate. Metabolism = chemical reactions (respiration, photosynthesis) that provide energy for organisms
Evolution
Change over time. Gives rise to biodiversity
DNA
Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid - A type of Nucleic Acid
that carries hereditary information. DNA is necessary for production of protein, metabolism reproduction of a cell
Responsiveness
Response to stimuli
organism reacts to change in the environment can be immediate, involuntary, or purposeful.
Structure and function
The something is arranged (structure) enables it to do its job (function)
Qualitative
Descriptions that include sight, sound, and smell
Quantitative
Characteristics that can be measured
