biodiversity Flashcards

1
Q

What is evolution?

A

The theory the old living species are the modified Descendants of earlier species

We all share common Ancestor

Therefore all species are related via a past tree of life

Q

What’s the evidence (4)

A

Anatomy - By looking at the anatomy of different species, we can find similarities or evidence that shows us that they may have been related a long time ago

Biochem - the chemicals that are used in metabolism. By examining the chemical makeup of different living things, We can see how closely they are related.
ex. Organisms use DNAs as their genetic makeup

development - comparisons of development as a structural evidence for evolution. Like looking at embryos, like how all vertebrate embryos have gill slits and a tail during early development.

DNA & Genes - DNA and gene similarities compared to other species
