Q

How are amino groups of an AA protonated. How is the carboxyl group deprotonated?

A

The amino group will be protonated-(NH3)+ instead of NH2- and the carboxyl group will be deprotonated -COO- instead of COOH- at physiological pH (6.8-7.4).
