what are the different blood vessels (3)
- Arteries
○ carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to the rest of the body - Veins
○ Carries deoxygenated blood back to the heart from the body - Capillaries
○ Tiny, thin walled, connect arteries to veins
function of the liver
○ Metabolizes nutrients
○ Removes waste products from blood (drugs, alcohol)
○ Regulates blood sugar
what is the process of digestion (be specific)
- Mouth
○ Food is chewed by teeth and mixed with saliva
○ that contains enzymes to break down carbs - Esophagus into stomach
○ Mixed with stomach acid & digestive enzymes to breakdown
food - Small intestine
○ Further broken down by enzymes from pancreas & liver
○ Nutrients are absorbed into the walls - Large intestine
○ Water absorbed
○ Waste compacts into feces - Anus
○ Removed from the body through a bowel movement
what is CNS, what does it do
central nervous system –>
○ the brain, spinal cord, & nerves
○ controles bodily functions & behavoir
How does cardiovascular system work with respiratory system
○ in the alveoli, oxygen diffuses into the blood
○ Oxygenated blood transported to pulmonary veins
○ Oxygenated blood moves out the aorta into the body
○ Deoxygenated blood goes back through inferior/ superior vena cava
the blood flow in the heart
- Enters the heart through the inferior/ superiorvena cava
- goes to pulmonary artery where it gets oxygenated
- returns to the heart through the pulmonary veins
- gets pumped to the rest of the body through the aorta
- deoxgenated blood goes back through the superoir/ inferior vena cava
